Dreamcast was created, having some innovations such as being the first console to include a built-in modem and internet support for online play which had never been seen before.

Sony opened this new decade with the PlayStation 2, becoming one of the top-selling sixth generation consoles.
2001
Nintendo follows Sony, creating the Nintendo GameCube. It is their first disc-based console. This console, even if similar to Sony’s, lacked third party games, and was called a “kids console”, not having what the current big gamers who kept up the market wanted. Before the end of this year, Microsoft Corporation becomes best known for its Windows operating system. It was a professional productivity software, making the PC technology with this program so much better.
